Justus Jonas (1493 - 1555)
The Advocate of the Reformation
Friend, companion and translator of Martin Luther's writings. He was appointed provost at the collegiate church of All Saints (today the castle church), was a lawyer by profession, and studied theology in Wittenberg on Luther's advice. He accompanied Martin Luther on all his journeys, and was also at his side in the hour of his death.
Justus Jonas' residence is located opposite the All Saints' Castle Church and today houses the hotel "Alte Canzley".
