From the Kornhaus restaurant in the north to the Bauhaus building and the masters’ houses to the Dessau-Törten estate in the south, Dessau has more original Bauhaus buildings than any other city. The most important ones are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The Bauhaus had its most successful period in Dessau, where the world-famous school designed the city of tomorrow between 1925 and 1932. What the Bauhaus built (and lived) in Dessau was to serve as a model for other projects.
On a tour through Dessau, visitors can rediscover these model houses of modernism and learn more about their architecture, their use and their inhabitants by experiencing the essence of the Bauhaus buildings. Thus, the buildings themselves become exhibition objects.
