Wonderful places in the countryside

The best way to discover a region is to experience its countryside. In the World Heritage region Anhalt-Dessau-Wittenberg, nature parks, the Biosphere Reserve Middle Elbe and many other parks and gardens are perfect destinations for those wanting to relax in nature. Best of all: it’s an easy bike ride to practically all local destinations. And since difficult ascents are scarce, these trips are more fun than strain, so that any such excursion will become a brief vacation (leading almost certainly past one of our wonderful lakes …). The friendly folks at the tourist informations and the nature park information centers are always glad to assist visitors planning a trip.

Lower Saale Valley Nature Park

The area of the Lower Saale Valley became a protected landscape in 1961 because of its scenic beauty and natural treasures. Thanks to floodplains, variously shaped side valleys and rocky slopes, the area has long offered naturalists and artists stimulation and inspiration. Many protected animal and plant species are at home here and there are various cultural monuments to discover.
