Museum in the Zeughaus
Lutherstadt Wittenberg can look back on more than 700 years of city history. Since the end of 2018, this has been presented on three floors in the reopened permanent exhibition of the municipal collections in the Museum im Zeughaus: On the ground floor, the so-called crown jewels illustrate individual aspects of the city's history, a city model shows the fortified garrison town of Wittenberg in 1873, while the upper floor depicts the settlement of the countryside thousands of years ago and the city's history from the 13th century to the present. The top floor is reserved for "Riemer's World". Thematically, the wealth in natural history and ethnology on all continents is presented through exhibits by the collector Julius Riemer.
Special highlights of the exhibition are the Cranach paintings with portraits of Martin Luther and Philipp Melanchthon as well as a city model of Wittenberg from 1873.
