Augmented Reality (AR) at Zerbst Castle
What did Zerbst Castle look like before its destruction?
We'll show you! With the help of Augmented Reality (AR).
Zerbst Castle, where the future Russian Tsarina Catherine II spent her youthful days, unfortunately only consists of the east wing today, but this is being restored and revitalised with funding from the Zerbst Castle Association.
The latest project together with the WelterbeRegion: Augmented Reality (AR). With the help of the latest technology from Magdeburg-based company 3DQR, you can experience the outer façade of the three-winged palace complex of one of the most important baroque palaces in Central Germany in its entirety before its destruction in 1945.
But that's not all: on a guided tour of the palace, you have the opportunity to view three rooms reconstructed using augmented reality, as well as other exhibits. You can experience the Main Study, the Writing Cabinet and the Blue Cabinet, including the original furniture and fittings based on historical image sources from the Zerbst Castle Friends' Association.
And this is how it works:
1. Download the free ‘3DQR Plus App’ to your mobile phone or tablet. This app is available in all popular app stores for Android and Apple devices. (It is best to complete this step before your visit using WIFI)
2. Scan the QR codes on site. You will find one freely accessible QR code in front of the castle in the Schlossgarten / castle garden.
3. During a guided tour of the castle, you can experience the three other reconstructed rooms using the app.
