The Central Elbe Biosphere Reserve is one of the oldest biosphere reserves in Germany and is traversed by the Elbe, Germany’s third largest river. Natural river courses amid regularly flooded, fertile floodplains have become a rarity in Central Europe. Along the Elbe, the last contiguous floodplain forest complexes of Central Europe are waiting for you.
