Roßlau moated castle

Roßlau Castle is a moated castle dating back to the 12th century. During excavations on the castle grounds, archaeologists discovered the "Roßlauer Treuering". The gold ring is considered to be the oldest wedding ring in Germany.

Roßlau Castle, built on the remains of a Slavic settlement castle, was constructed as a lowland castle with three moats. Originally consisting of only one residential tower, the castle was expanded until the 16th century. In 1740, the "Little Castle" was built next to the castle and a little later a second entrance was created via the castle bridge.
