St Agnus Church

The interior of the lavishly restored church has the design of 1850, although a winged altar from the early 16th century and the epitaph painting of Princess Gisela Agnes by Pesne convey the impression of the times when Bach was a member of the congregation and occasionally played the organ. The chalice, which was served to him for Holy Communion, is still used today and Bach's signature can be found in the corresponding registers.
The centre of interest in St Agnus' Church is the Last Supper painting by Lukas Cranach the Younger, painted in 1565. The Rühlmann organ from 1876, which is played in the church today, is ideal for concerts, and St. Agnus has an active and lively parish life, not least thanks to the neighbouring Protestant primary school.
