Castle Church Wittenberg
Luther posted his 95 theses, bound to change the fate of the world, on the door of Wittenberg’s Castle Church. In 1506, the church rose on the foundation stones of the original castle of the Elector of Saxony. The steeple of this impressive place of worship is emblazoned with the word „A mighty fortress is our God“ („Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott“), a line from Martin Luther’s well-known psalm and hymn.
Inside the church, visitors will notice the last resting places of Luther and his fellow reformer Philipp Melanchthon.
The castle church has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.
