Bauhaus housing estate Dessau-Törten
Terraced houses, designed by Walter Gropius.
This architectural tour of Dessau-Törten begins in the Konsum building with an exhibition detailing the history of the settlement. It then goes on past various types of houses and ends with a tour of a model apartment located in one of the Laubenganghäuser. A special highlight is the only building of the settlement preserved in its original state, the “Haus Anton”.
The experimental housing estate Törten, built by Walter Gropius in 1928, the Laubenganghäuser planned by Hannes Meyer and the Stahlhaus (completed in 1927) are outstanding examples of the New Building of the 1920s.
