China in the Garden Kingdom

The Chinese House, along with the pagoda and several arched bridges in the Baroque Island Garden, is part of the only 18th-century English-Chinese garden still complete.

This former baroque garden plays an important part in the stylistic diversity of the Garden Kingdom. Pagoda, tea house and arched bridges set architectural accents in this part of the park.

This is a great place to study the garden theories of Englishman Sir William Chambers, whose creations in far-away England had served as models. The designed area mediates between the axial arrangement of the baroque garden and the surrounding landscape and showcases contrasting design views in garden art.
