In 1915, the world’s largest and most advanced lignite-fired power plant rose in Zschornewitz on the edge of the Düben Heath. In the immediate vicinity of the site, a residential colony now invites visitors on a journey into the social housing of the early 20th century.
Following the example of English garden cities, greenery and colorful facades characterize this residential complex. Lovingly renovated for the Expo 2000, this housing complex once again shines as a gem of modern architecture.
