Dessau Zoo
The 11-hectare landscape-protected zoo is in the immediate vicinity of the Georgengarten. Grace and peace define this charming institution with its 500 animals of about 120 different species living amid rare trees and shrubs. Over 1,000 trees, of which about 125 are labeled, determine the character of the park. This zoological garden is not only an attraction for children and adults but also an ideal place to illustrate the origin and the habitats of its various animals. This is important, as our understanding of the environment grows with our knowledge of the animal world.
The most prominent building in the zoo is the mausoleum at the center of the park, whose 43-meter-high dome is visible from afar. The former resting place of the Dukes of Anhalt is now a venue for eclectic events.
Services included in the Welterbecard:
One free entrance to the zoo
