Farm museum Chörau (Museumshof Chörau)

The Museumshof Chörau, founded in 2018, is managed by an association of the same name (Museumshof Chörau e.V.). Starting in 2017, members of the association converted this 3-sided farm building in just about one year into the current museum, comprising two lovingly furnished apartments in the residential wing showing what everyday life from 1935 to 1970 was like.

The apartments showcase original furniture from their respective eras, including many reminders of the GDR. On the upper floor, a completely furnished room from around 1970 awaits visitors, including original kitchen accessories, a GDR youth room, a bedroom and a living room. Further attractions include a historic laundry room, a garage, a toy museum and a radio and television museum boasting various exhibitions on themes such as “How do images get into the TV? “.

The converted barn has a small guest room offering coffee and cake, drinks and ice cream. Connected to it is the massive knights’ hall (Rittersaal), a venue for living room concerts, lectures and other events. The spacious courtyard invites visitors to linger and maybe catch one of the many events held here.
