Georgium Castle and Park
The Georgium Castle and its 20-hectare garden are an impressive example of the ideas of the Enlightenment. Prince Johann Georg von Anhalt-Dessau had commissioned the ensemble in 1780.
Today, the castle houses the Anhalt Picture Gallery Dessau, the most important collection of old paintings and graphics in Saxony-Anhalt.
While the permanent collection closed because of an extensive renovation of the castle in early 2021, special exhibitions in the Orangery and the Fremdenhaus are still open to the public.
The reopening is planned for 2022.
