Historical City Information "Klosterkirche" / "Monastery Church"

The history of the Ascanians of the Duchy of Saxony-Wittenberg is staged on 1,500 square metres.

The monastery church was recreated as a structural illusion. In a vivid light presentation, visitors are transported back in time to the 12th-15th centuries. The exhibition shows the formative influence of this Ascanian branch on Wittenberg, the state of Saxony-Anhalt and the Central German region from Brandenburg to Saxony.

A special highlight is the tomb of Elector Rudolf II with his wife and daughter.
