Auenhaus

Information center of the UNESCO protected area

The Information Center „Auenhaus", located between Dessau-Roßlau and Oranienbaum, caters for nature lovers and provides information about the special features of the protected area. Its permanent exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to better understand the special features of the protected area through replicas and models. Some of the local attractions are: a nature puzzle for children, an animal sound box, a replica beaver lodge, an explanatory flood model, and a model of a reaction ferry. A transparent and natural combination of wood and glass allows glimpses of the newly designed outdoor area with its typical barge, its farm garden and its beaver cinema.

The Auenhaus was evaluated by a certified surveyor and awarded the certificate "Barrier-free tested" partially barrier-free for people with walking disabilities and partially barrier-free for people with visual impairments by the testing agency and is allowed to carry the label from April 2020 to March 2023. In addition, detailed information is available for wheelchair users, people with hearing impairments, blind people, deaf people and people with cognitive impairments.

Arrival

You can reach the Auenhaus comfortably and sustainably from Dessau with the Dessau- Wörlitzer Eisenbahn (not all year round) or the World Heritage Line 310 (Gräfenhainichen - Oranienbaum - Dessau). Stop: Biosphere Reserve.
