Kurpark Bad Schmiedeberg
The historic Bad Schmiedeberg spa gardens have been an important part of the town's spa life for many decades. In 1878, the ‘Städtische Eisenmoorbad’ (municipal iron moor baths) were founded in Schmiedeberg. The accompanying park had been laid out four years earlier as a garrison park. Many of the trees and shrubs planted at that time still characterise the spa gardens today. It is also adorned with a magnolia grove, a moor and herb axis, a rose garden and a band of shrubs. The concert garden, relaxation garden, sun park, cyclist monument and the two Kneipp facilities are further important elements of the spa gardens. From 2005 to 2007, the historic park was renovated in accordance with conservation guidelines based on park plans from 1932.
The park is now open to the public and offers a regular programme of themed tours, music and cultural events.
