Count Hoyer von Falkenstein commissioned Eike von Repgow, probably born in Reppichau, to write what would become the first medieval law book (the “Sachsenspiegel”) in the early 13th century. It was in use for almost 700 years. The Sachsenspiegel art project (Kunstprojekt Sachsenspiegel) in Reppichau is an open-air museum that brings the figures of the illuminated manuscript of the “Sachsenspiegel” to life. Sculptures, wall paintings and shields are simply everywhere in the village. The information center at the village pond provides information about the project.
