We recommend the Black Elster route for people preferring a relaxed pace. The tour traverses Lusatia, starting in Upper Lusatia at the source of the Black Elster. It leads across meadows and forests and, often running on a dike along the Black Elster.
The river originates at the northern edge of the Sybillenstein near the village of Elstra (Upper Lusatia). The Black Elster cycle path accompanies the river from its source near Elstra until it flows into the Elbe 188 km downstream in the village of Gorsdorf near Elster (Saxony-Anhalt). It was custom-made for cyclists traveling between the emerging Lusatian lake district and the Elbe.
