Below you will find the programme for the Garden Kingdom Festival on 9 August 2026. Special events will be taking place at various locations throughout the Gartenreich of Dessau-Wörlitz.
Further events will be added in due course.
Incidentally, on Sunday 9 August, you can travel free of charge on the Dessau-Wörlitz Railway. There will also be an entertainment programme on board the train.

Picnic at Franz's
As a special exception, picnicking is allowed on the lawn in front of Wörlitz Palace! Starting at 2:00 p.m., you’re welcome to take a seat in front of the palace dressed in your finest, with a well-stocked picnic basket and a white tablecloth. Let’s enjoy a relaxed and cheerful summer day together, featuring a varied program of activities for all ages. You’re also welcome to enjoy a meal from the local Wörlitz restaurants or order a picnic basket filled with regional delicacies in advance.

Guided Tour of the Wörlitz Palace Gardens
To celebrate the picnic at Franz’s and the Gartenreich Festival, guests at Wörlitz Park are invited to join a 30-minute walk through the palace gardens up to Zedernberg. Along the way, they’ll hear all sorts of stories about Prince Franz and his masterful landscape park.

Gondola Ride at Blue Hour
Accompanied by the music of the Wörlitz Palace inauguration cantata, visitors can experience the first English landscape garden on the European mainland from the water. Numerous lights illuminate bridges, architectural features both large and small, as well as the gondolas themselves, creating a very special, romantic atmosphere during the blue hour.
However, the view is enchanting not only from the gondola but also for all guests strolling through the park.

Travel by train to the Garden Kingdom Festival for free
On Sunday 9 August 2026, you can travel on the Dessau-Wörlitz Railway for free, including the entertainment programme. Just hop on, set off and enjoy the ride!
Our tour guide, Martina Wormuth, has plenty of interesting facts and entertaining anecdotes in store for you.
Cover singer Ramona will set the right mood on the train, ensuring you arrive at your destination in high spirits.
Of course, you can then travel back from Wörlitz to Dessau free of charge as well.

On 9 August, you can travel free of charge on the Dessau–Wörlitz Railway between Dessau and Wörlitz (and vice versa). A varied programme of entertainment awaits you both during the journey and at your destinations.
