Goitzschesee circular route

The path around the Goitzsche (Goitzschesee) leads through one of the area-wise largest landscape art projects in the world. It shows the structural change of the past decades and makes it possible to experience the transformation of the former industrial landscape into the contemporary curated landscape. Since both bike routes are sections of the COAL | STEAM | LIGHT | LAKES  -route, one can easily combine them into a trip covering the industrial culture of the past. It invites visitors to swim, cycle, sail, dive and surf. Several bathing spots, the water sports center and a modern wakepark offer ideal conditions for water sports.

The route COAL | STEAM | LIGHT | LAKES helps you to understand one of the greatest ever structural changes in the German economy on over 350 kilometers of well-signposted paths. The stops along the route, some of which are located directly on the bike path while others require a slight detour, provide interesting insights into the history and the present of this transformative region. All stations are also easily accessible by car.
